A few months ago I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Sunshine Coast region of British Columbia. Stretching for 110 kilometers (roughly 68 miles) along the Strait of Georgia, from Howe Sound to Desolation Sound, the Sunshine Coast is just a short hop from Vancouver but feels far removed from the city. I spent the weekend in the Pender Harbour area about halfway up the coast. On assignment for Harbors, Kenmore Air’s new inflight magazine, I flew up from Seattle in a Kenmore floatplane. On my return I got an extra scenic flight north from Pender Harbour to Desolation Sound, where the pilot had to pick up a passenger before making the trip back down to Seattle. I took this photo through the window of the plane, somewhere between Powell River and Desolation Sound.
